This journey began years back, when my mum started researching our family history. What she found was a tale of strength, courage and redemption against incredible odds. She went on to write a book which tells the story of five strong women in my family, from my great-great-grandmother to mum herself, exploring how my family came to terms with and dealt with the sins of our past.

My mum, Felicity Davis, recently re-released her debut book, Guard a Silver Sixpence, as Sins of the Family. As I attended the book’s launch last weekend, I realised that Sins of the Family is a story about hope, chronicling one woman’s fight to forge a brighter future for both herself and her family.

Revealing The Sins Of My Family

This weekend I’m going to be attending the launch event for my mum, Felicity Davis’, new book, which explores my family history. Over the last few weeks I’ve started thinking about how my family struggled for years to reach this point, inspiring this post. If I’ve learned anything recently, it’s that we all have to come to terms with the sins of our families, to come to terms with ourselves.

As I sit here about to write this article we’re just over half way through Mother’s Day. The one day a year we set aside to thank those women who have looked after us, picked us up when we fell and stood behind us no matter what throughout our entire lives. Now seemed like a good opportunity to say thank you to Felicity Newbold for giving me life!
